COLUMNAS DE OPINIÓN: reflejo del esfuerzo y biodiversidad flPINñÑ La miel chilena es uno de los alimentos emblemáticos de la producción natural. Es deliciosa y saludable, pero algo que resalta de este producto es su vinculo directo con nuestra tierra y en particular, con el trabajo de los apicultores y sus familias. Es un recurso que debemos cuidar y proteger riada su importancia ecológica y cultural, sumado a que es un insumo de alta demande internacional. La apicultura en Chile se caracteriza por tener diversos climasy paisajes, los que van desde el árido desierto de Atacama, hasta tos lluviosos bosques del hermoso sur.
Esto permite quelas mieles producidas alo largo de nuestro país tengan propiedades únicas en cada lugar, influenciadas por las flores y bosques nativos de cada región, llevando a producir tipos únicos en el mundo, como la miel de ulmo, de quillay, y de tabo, entre otras plantas endémicas.
Estas singularidades han entregado propiedades especificas a la miel chilena, diferenciándolas no solo por su sabor y color, si no que por sus propiedades medicinales, antimicrobianas, regeneradoras de tejido o de control de flora en el sistema gastrointestinal, haciendo de ella un alimento altamente valorado.
Es fundamental cuidar y fomentar la apicultura en Chile creando políticas públicas que permitan la implementación de prácticas agricolas más sostenibles, resguardando la protección estricta de áreas naturales, vigilando el respeto por la biodiversidad de nuestra flora. La deforestación y utilización de agroquimicos en la agricultura convencional afectan directamente a las poblaciones de estos insectos. Las abejas, además da ser productoras de miel, juegan un rol crucial en la polinización de un alio porcentaje de los alimentos vegetales que consumimos, lo que las hace esenciales para la seguridad alimentaria.
Asimismo, los efectos del cambio climático, evidenciados en las variaciones de temperaturas y patrones de lluvia, inciden directamente en los polinizadores, disminuyendo el flujo de néctar y polen, lo que impacte en le cantidad de miel producida y su calidad. Por lo mismo, es crucial apoyar a los apicultores para que puedan adaptarse y conocer las nuevas condiciones climáticas, con el objetivo de mejorarsustécnicas de producción.
Es fundamental promover el consumo de miel local, enseñando a le población acerca de sus propiedades, el valorcultural que hay detrás de la apicultura y el gran de trabajo que se desarrolla alrededor de esta actividad, para que de esta fonna se cree una mayor conciencia sobre la necesidad de proteger alas abejas ysu hábitat.
