ITI obtiene sellos de reducción y cuantificaciónde huella de carbono del Programa Huella Chile Iquique Terminal Internacional (ITI) fue reconocido por el Programa Huella Chile del Ministerio de Medio Ambiente por cuantificar y reportar sus emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero e implementar acciones para su reducción. En una ceremonia que fue encabezada por la ministra de Medioambiente, Maisa Rojas, el terminal concesionado obtuvo los sellos dereducción y cuantificación, correspondientes a las mediciones de 2023. La coordinadora de Medioambiente de ITI, Jocelyne Ramírez, destacó el compromiso del terminal con una gestión sostenible.
“La medición de la huella de carbono nos permite cumplir con toregulaciones das las ambientales, es una contribución a la competitividad y nos ponea la vanguardia en la Región de Tarapacá respecto de mediciones, considerando la meta de descarbonización que tiene Chile.
La obtención de estos sellos otorgados por Huella Chile es un incentivo para el trabajo que hemos venido ejecutando a lo largo de estos años y, una evidencia concreta del compromiso que tenemos con la sostenibilidad de nuestra compañía y nuestrascomunidades”, subrayó.
ITI desde el 2014 realiza la medición de su huella de carbono y elcálculo considera trescategorías: emisiones generadas por el consumo de combustible adquirido por la organiza-ción, el uso de energíaeléctrica y las generadas por terceros, por ejemplo, el arriendo de equipos para el desarrollo de las operaciones.
