Día Mundial de la Hepatitis
Día Mundial de la Hepatitis Este 27 de julio se conmemoró una vez más y desde el año 2010, el Día Mundial de la Hepatitis, en recuerdo del natalicio de Baruch Blumberg, descubridor del virus Hepatitis Ben 1967 y por lo mismo ganador del Premio Nobel de Medicina elaño 1976. Es interesante destacar que por otra parte el virus de la Hepatitis C fue descubierto por H. Alter, M. Houghton y C. Rice en 1989, por lo que también fueron galardonados con el Premio Nobel de Medicina el año 2020. Si bien las hepatitis virales siguen siendo un problema de Salud Pública en todo el mundo, ha habido importantes avances en su diagnóstico y tratamiento en los últimos años. En Chile contamos en la actualidad con vacunación universal contra los virus de la hepatitis B y A. También disponemos de muy eficaces tratamientos antivirales contra las hepatitis crónicas por los virus B y C, garantizados por el Plan AUGE.
